The machine will be available to the public as part of our static display which means a perfect occasion to take a close look at its design which is currently setting global standards of modern military aviation.
F-35 Lightning II, developed by US-based Lockheed Martin, is a fifth-generation multi-role fighter, designed to perform a wide range of combat tasks in the most demanding operational conditions. The machine is available in three versions.
The most important properties of F-35:
Stealth technology – the shape of the body design, special coatings and the placement of the armament make F-35 difficult to detect by enemy radars.
Integrated sensor systems – F-35 collects and analyses data from multiple sources, providing pilots with full operational awareness in the battlefield.
Network-centric operations – the aircraft may cooperate real time with other machines, land forces, navy ships, and command centres.
Multi-tasking – F-35 is able to conduct air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, electronic reconnaissance, radio-electronic warfare, and to destroy strategic targets.
Cutting-edge cockpit – equipped in a headpiece which is integrated with weapon aiming systems and a touch-screen display replacing most traditional switches.
The participation of F-35 from Italy is a reflection of close international cooperation as part of NATO and the great trust that the Italian Air Force has placed in us.
It is also a preview of what is awaiting us in the future – Poland is one of the states that purchased F-35, and the first machines are to reach our country in the upcoming years.
