This single-engine jet aircraft was designed with modern battlefield in mind, combining the properties of a combat, training and reconnaissance vehicle. Although it is smaller than other standard fighters, L-159 impresses with its capabilities, as it can carry out patrol missions, support land forces from the air, and conduct reconnaissance operations.
Powered with Honeywell F124 engine, it reaches the speed of nearly 940 km/h and may operate at an altitude of over 13,000 metres. Thanks to state-of-the-art avionics, digital cockpit and Grifo-L radar, the pilot has full control over the situation on the battlefield.
The aeroplane may carry a wide range of armament, from missiles, through bombs, to gun mounts. All this with relatively low operating costs, which makes L-159 an extremely practical and valued solution in numerous armed forces. It is a machine that proves that innovation and effectiveness do not always mean huge aircraft size.
