SU-22 – farewell to a legend

SU-22 – farewell to a legend
Both days of the AirSHOW will feature a special display featuring the Su-22, complete with pyrotechnics, both on the ground and in the air. This will be the farewell performance of the legendary Su-22 – a plane that has been the pride of Polish aviation for over 40 years, a symbol of strength and reliability. Additionally, on Sunday, it will be joined by other jets, the MiG-29 and FA-50, providing air support.

The Su-22, a variable-geometry wing fighter-bomber, has been a pillar of the Polish Air Force’s strike forces for over four decades. Designed for precision low-altitude attacks, it excelled in challenging operational environments. Its design ensured high durability, flexible weapon configuration, and the ability to operate with minimal ground support.

The Su-22’s reliability, however, would not have been possible without the excellent training and technical expertise of its mechanics and ground support engineers, who, for years, meticulously maintained the aircraft in combat readiness. Thanks to them, the aircraft continued to fly in full operational condition for decades.
